The presence of the Desert cube is similar to river Thames at past times: it verifies climates, behaviors and traditions;
It brings to London foreign gestures and distanced landscapes without the risk of losing its nature.
In that sense, the desert cube is a self sufficient structure- A microcosm fed by its own contrast.
Our design approach was to create a temporary experience within a strict form:
At dock, the gallery fuels itself with people and a blast of air which formats the cycle in a sandstorm.
As the gallery moves, the sand flows down softly through the double-glazed glass facades to divide the structure horizontally:
A lower interval space allowing an appropriate environment for exhibitions / conferences, and a top extrovert space for observation.
In between is a level for intermediate functions revolving around an enlarged hourglass.
